Sofia Cabrera Barroso

Sofia Cabrera Barroso, age 20, is a bilingual Spanish and English speaker who grew up speaking both languages at home. A certified ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) instructor, Sofia is excited to bring her language-teaching training to WorldWise as the Spanish teacher for Anatomy Adventurers. Her approach emphasizes games, conversation, collaboration, and creating a supportive environment where students at different levels can build confidence communicating in Spanish.

Sofia is already a familiar face in the WorldWise community. She joined us in the Galápagos for Evolution Explorers in spring 2026, when her younger brother participated as a student. She has also spent the past three years traveling extensively with her family, including six months exploring Central and South America. Sofia loves working with children and values the curiosity, growth, and connections that emerge through learning together across cultures.

Alongside her Spanish instruction, Sofia will serve as a Teaching Assistant, working closely with Lisé and gaining hands-on experience in project-based and place-based education while supporting students throughout their classroom and field learning. She is excited to return to Costa Rica and take on this new role within the WorldWise community.
