Step into a world of secrets, sensors, and science in one of Europe’s most beautifully preserved medieval cities. Set against the backdrop of Tallinn, Estonia—a former hub of Soviet espionage and modern cyber defense—this four-week adventure immerses students in spy-themed challenges using Arduino, the open-source electronics platform that combines easy-to-use hardware with C/C++ programming.

Students will build and code functional Arduino-based spy gadgets, mix chemical compounds used for tracking and detection, crack ciphers, and explore Estonia’s Cold War history as a key player in East-West intelligence. This hands-on learning adventure weaves together chemistry, electronics, C++ programming, and Estonian history, empowering kids to become stealthy engineers and savvy digital explorers.
With expert guidance and access to real coding tools and electronics, this is the ultimate mission for curious coders, future inventors, and budding scientists. -
Students will have the opportunity to have guided hands on lab experience with soldering, programming, chemistry experiments and spy challenge simulations, and make their very own spy gadgets.
The month long exploration will culminate in a Final Spy Skills Showcase, where students demo their gadgets and decode historical mystery puzzles in an immersive group mission.

FAQs ABOUT THE ESPIONAGE ENGINEERS LEARNING ADVENTURE

This immersive spy-themed program is designed for 10 students ages 12–16 who are excited to explore coding, chemistry, electronics, and Cold War history through creative challenges and hands-on projects.

Our classroom will be located in Tallinn’s Old Town. The exact address will be shared in the family WhatsApp group before the program begins. Field excursions will take place at historical and cultural sites throughout the city.

Classes run Monday through Thursday, 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM.
We will have three classroom days and one field excursion day per week.
Optional small-group math tutorials take place two mornings per week from 9:00 – 10:00 AM, on either Mon/Wed or Tues/Thurs, depending on group assignment. -
Families book their own accommodations. We recommend staying within or near Old Town Tallinn to be close to the classroom and field locations.

Each family is responsible for transportation to and from the classroom and field sites. Most locations will be walkable or accessible via Tallinn’s excellent public transit.

No. Please send your child with a packed lunch, snack, and refillable water bottle each day.

The program is taught in English. Most people in Tallinn speak basic English. Your child does not need to speak Estonian, though we may learn a few spy-themed phrases just for fun.

We’ll provide most materials for electronics, coding, and chemistry. Your child should bring:
Basic Supplies:
Pencils, sharpener, and eraser
Black pens
Glue stick
Scissors
Small ruler (in centimeters)
Colored markers or colored pencils
Watercolor paints and a few different-sized brushes
Small roll of Scotch tape
Math Tools (for ages 11+):
Small scientific calculator (or a phone with a calculator app, if permitted)
Daily Essentials:
Comfortable backpack
Refillable water bottle
Lunch and snack containers
Weather-appropriate layers, light jacket, and comfortable walking shoes
We will provide each agent with a program journal—no need to bring a notebook.

Yes! Parents are welcome to join our field excursion days, including visits to museums and historic sites. All costs for parents (entry fees, transit, etc.) are paid separately.
